Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

The Short Version

Signal News Intelligence is built on a simple principle: your news stays on your device. We don't run servers, we don't collect your data, and we don't track what you read. The entire intelligence pipeline — fetching, clustering, AI enrichment — runs locally on your iPhone.

What Signal News Intelligence Does

Signal News Intelligence ("Signal") fetches articles from publicly available RSS feeds, processes them using on-device natural language processing (Apple's NaturalLanguage framework), and enriches them with on-device AI (Apple Intelligence). All of this happens on your device. No data is sent to our servers because we don't have servers.

Data That Stays on Your Device

The following data is created and stored locally on your device only:

We cannot access any of this data. It exists only on your device.

iCloud Sync

If you sign in with Apple, Signal uses iCloud (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore and iCloud Documents) to sync the following across your devices:

This sync is handled entirely by Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We do not operate any sync servers. Your synced data is protected by your Apple ID and Apple's iCloud security. We cannot access your iCloud data.

Signal LM (Built-in AI Model)

Signal includes a downloadable AI model (Signal LM) that runs entirely on your device. The model file is downloaded once from our content delivery network and stored locally. After download, all AI processing happens on-device with no server communication. CDN access logs may record aggregate download counts but do not contain personal information, device identifiers, or any data that could identify individual users.

Claude API (Optional)

If you choose to use the Claude API integration, you provide your own API key. When this feature is active:

We encourage you to review Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

RSS Feeds

Signal fetches articles from publicly available RSS feeds. These are standard web requests made directly from your device to the RSS feed providers (e.g., BBC, Reuters, The Verge). These providers may log standard web request data (IP address, request time) according to their own privacy policies. We have no control over or access to these logs.

Sign in with Apple

Signal supports Sign in with Apple for iCloud sync. When you sign in:

You can sign out at any time in Settings. Signing out stops iCloud sync but does not delete your local data.

Data We Collect

None. Specifically:

Data We Do Not Have Access To

Children's Privacy

Signal News Intelligence does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no data, there is no children's data to protect — but we state this explicitly for COPPA compliance.

Data Retention

All data on your device follows these retention rules:

You can delete all local data by deleting the app.

Law Enforcement

If we receive a request from law enforcement, we have no user data to provide. We do not operate servers, databases, or accounts that store personal information. We will comply with valid legal process to the extent applicable, but in practice there is nothing to disclose.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version at this URL and update the "Last updated" date. Since we don't collect email addresses, we cannot notify you directly — please check this page periodically.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, delete, or port. If you have questions, you can reach us at support@tinythings.app.
